Samuel Babatunde had his undergraduate University education at the University of Ibadan where he acquired a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aquaculture Management from the prestigious, pioneering University of Ibadan. He proceeded onwards to acquire a Masters’ Degree in Aquaculture Management from the same University.
While serving during National Youth Service Corps Programme, He was a leader of a team that looked into how the lives of the rural dwellers in the area could be improved.
Samuel has varied experience in the corporate and non-profit fields, having initiated the Responsible Aquaculture Practices initiative, a non-profit advocacy group, committed to educating fisher-folks and environmentalists in Nigeria, on the benefits of operating good aquaculture practices.
He has, at several times, also appeared on conventional media, especially on World Water Day, to sensitize fisher-folks and local farmers on the challenges being faced with Aquaculture in Nigeria due to existing wrong practices and approaches to aquaculture. He is also a Volunteer in the Walk for Awareness of Green Society.
Samuel was the Assistant General Secretary, Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students, (NAAS), University of Ibadan Chapter (2011/2012). He was also a Member of, Students’ Representative Council, University of Ibadan Students’ Union, (2013/2014). He was the National Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the National Association of Fisheries Students (NAFIS) (2013/2014). He was the Executive Head, Council of Faculty, President, University of Ibadan Chapter, (2013/2014), as well as the President, Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS), University of Ibadan Chapter (2013/2014).
In the Corporate Sector, he worked as the Head, Research/ Strategy and Business Development, Klick Konnect Networks from the year 2017. He was also the Lead Supervisor of, Ozone Standard Achievers’ Platform (2018). He was the Director of Projects, Green Society of Nigeria, Ibadan Chapter, (2019), and the Managing Consultant, Responsible Aquaculture Practices Initiative (2020-2021).
Samuel was the Overall Second-Best Student, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, Practical Year Training Programme, University of Ibadan (2015). He is a Member of, Fisheries Society of Nigeria; a Member, Junior Chambers International (JCI), and a Fellow, Tony Elumelu Foundation. He has a PhD-in-view in Environmental Science at Western Illinois University, United States of America.
He took on the role of the Director of Operations, SBZ Development Ltd, a company that he also helped promote.
